Siliguri, 01st August: Reckless bike riding on the roads of Ward No. 47 in Siliguri is causing a nuisance among local residents and passers-by. The gravity of the situation became evident when a speeding bike collided with a pedestrian on Tuesday, resulting in serious injuries. The incident sparked anger among both the victim’s family and the locals.
The main road of Pati Colony, which connects Matigara to Siliguri, passes through Ward No. 47, with numerous schools in the vicinity. Many school students and residents use this road for daily commuting. However, the area has been plagued by a group of youths who frequently engage in careless bike riding, leading to frequent accidents.
The recent incident involved a person named Barun Pal, who suffered severe injuries after being hit by a speeding bike while stepping out of his house. Local residents promptly came to his rescue and rushed him to the hospital. Nonetheless, the incident has left the community deeply disturbed, and they now demand the intervention of the administration to address this pressing issue. The councilor representing Ward No. 47 has also voiced concern and urged the administration to take action and control the reckless bike riding in the area.
