Siliguri, 12th August: Locals raised voice against a ration dealer alleging irregularities in ration distribution. An atmosphere of tension was witnessed surrounding the incident on Wednesday night in the Panchkolguri area adjacent to Bhalobasa More. The ration dealer was also allegedly attacked by the locals.
Ration dealer Pankaj Das has been accused of carrying out black marketing in ration distribution. However, Das denied all the allegations. Meanwhile, an atmosphere of tension was witnessed in the area surrounding the incident. Later, the NJP police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
On the other hand, a press conference was held on behalf of the West Bengal MR Ration Dealers Association at Siliguri Journalists Club on Thursday. The organization’s Jalpaiguri District secretary Nilmoni Lahiri said that there is a temporary problem in ration distribution due to server problems. The matter has been reported to the higher authorities.
“The attack on the ration dealer in Panchkolguri last Wednesday is highly reprehensible. A police complaint has been lodged against three people. I demand immediate punishment for the culprits,” Lahiri added.
