Naxalbari, 20th June: The Rath Yatra festival is being celebrated in Naxalbari in accordance with tradition. Today, the Rath Yatra commenced with the pulling of the chariot’s rope. Arun Ghosh, the chairman of Siliguri Mahakma Parishad, graced the occasion with his presence.
The organizers are anticipating a substantial turnout of people this year, as is the case every year. Prior to the commencement of the Rath Yatra, Ghosh took it upon himself to clean the road using a broom. He expressed his belief that a significant number of individuals would gather around this historically significant chariot.
Vidyut Das, the secretary of the Rath Puja Committee, mentioned that the crowd is expected to grow as the evening progresses on this auspicious occasion of the Rath Yatra. A total of 120 volunteers have been deployed, and additional measures such as CCTV cameras and police monitoring have been implemented. Moreover, more than 300 stalls have been set up to cater to the needs of the attendees.
