Siliguri, 31st October: A rare species of tortoise has been rescued in Siliguri.
It has been learned that a tortoise was seen floating in the Jorapani river on Saturday night. A child rescued the tortoise and kept it at home that night. A local named Karno Sarkar handed over the tortoise to the NJP police on Sunday morning.
The tortoise was later taken by the forest department.
