Rangapani Train Accident: Confusion over ‘false complaints’ against deceased loco pilot of goods train

Siliguri, 19th June: In a startling turn of events following the Rangapani train accident, allegations of false complaints against the deceased loco pilot of the goods train have surfaced, raising serious questions about the role of the Railways and the Government Railway Police (GRP).

Reportedly, a passenger, Chaitali Majumdar, a resident of Laketown in Siliguri, purportedly lodged a complaint against the driver and co-driver of the freight train involved in the accident. However, Majumdar has since claimed that she never filed such a complaint. According to her statement, she was asked to sign a blank piece of paper while she was hospitalized after sustaining injuries in the incident. It was only later that she discovered a complaint had been filed in her name.

Majumdar’s father supported her claims, questioning why they would file a complaint against the driver and co-driver, whom they did not know.

This has intensified suspicions regarding the integrity of the investigation, especially given that a signal system failure is suspected to have contributed to the accident.
