Ramakrishna Mission reclaims land after four days, Maharaj returns in police presence in Siliguri

Siliguri, 23rd May: After a tense standoff, the Ramakrishna Mission has finally reclaimed their land. On Thursday, the Maharaj of the Ramakrishna Mission re-entered the Mission premises in the presence of officers from the Bhaktinagar police station, ending a four-day conflict.

The trouble began earlier on Sunday when alleged land mafia forcibly entered the Ramakrishna Mission Sewak House in Shalugara, assaulting the saints and security personnel. Additionally, the assailants threatened the Maharaj of the Ramakrishna Mission with firearms and attempted to seize control of the property. This brazen act of aggression caused widespread outrage in Siliguri and across the state, prompting serious questions about the role of the police in protecting the Mission’s property.

In response to the uproar, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police launched a swift investigation. Within three days, they arrested five suspects involved in the attack. The accused were subsequently presented in court and remanded into custody.

On Thursday, four days after the initial incident, the Maharaj of the Ramakrishna Mission returned to the Sewak House. The IC of Bhakti Nagar police station led the effort to escort the Maharaj back and officially restore the Mission’s control over the property.

In this regard, Jalpaiguri Ramakrishna Mission Editor, Shivo Premanando Maharaj, expressed gratitude to the administration for their prompt action in returning the Sewak House. He assured that the daily activities at the Mission would resume immediately. Further, he mentioned that his people have been accused and hopes they will receive justice through legal means.
