Siliguri, 27th March: MP Raju Bista visited the house of former BJP leader Alok Sen on Saturday morning and tried to convince him to not break ties with the party. However, Sen remained firm with his decision and stated that he will contest the election as an independent candidate.
It is to be noted that Alok Sen and his supporters expressed outrage after BJP fielded Shikha Chatterjee as the party’s candidate for the Dabgram-Fulbari assembly. Following this, he held a press conference and announced to quit the party.
Following this, Sen submitted his nomination papers on Friday as an independent candidate for the Dabgram-Fulbari assembly.
