Rajganj: Poor condition of community washroom in Kundar Dighi, locals demand renovation

Rajganj, 19th March: The community washroom built in Kundar Dighi area of Shikarpur Gram Panchayat, Rajganj block, is in a deteriorated state due to lack of maintenance. The residents have urged the authorities to renovate and reopen the facility.

Reportedly, the concrete toilet was constructed with financial support from the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad. However, due to neglect, it has become practically unusable. The doors and windows have been stolen, and the interior is completely damaged. Additionally, the absence of a water supply has made it impossible for the locals to use the facility.

According to residents, the community washroom was built a year and a half ago and was used for about three to four months before falling into disrepair. Due to a lack of maintainance, its doors and windows were stolen, and it has since remained abandoned.

In response to the issue, Ranbir Majumdar, a member of the Zilla Parishad, stated over the phone that the community toilet was built before his tenure. He added that its maintenance was assigned to the local market committee or a club. However, he assured that the matter would be looked into.
