Siliguri, 08th August: The Railways encountered significant hurdles while attempting to close a road in Bagrakote on Thursday. Despite initiating the road closure in the presence of Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, local residents began protesting, forcing the railway workers to halt their efforts.
Reportedly, for a considerable period, the movement of cars and bikes through Bagrakote has been restricted. However, the planned roadblock faced resistance from the locals, who argued that the occasional passage of ambulances necessitated keeping the road open to avoid potential problems.
The protest intensified as residents voiced their concerns directly to the RPF personnel on site, leading to the suspension of the road closure work.
This incident follows a similar one a few days ago, where railway workers also had to abandon their efforts due to local opposition.
