Kharibari, 18th February: A railway worker died after being hit by a train, on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Kanti (40).
It has been learned that the incident occurred when a Balurghat-Siliguri train hit him while he was crossing the railway line in front of Kharibari Adhikari railway station.
According to the locals, such accidents are taking place as there is no footbridge at the Adhikari railway station. Residents complained that a memorandum was issued to all the officers of the Katihar division demanding footbridge but no action was taken.
Meanwhile, Kharibari police and railway police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for autopsy.
