Siliguri, 27th January: The temporary cleaning staff of the railways staged a protest demanding re-employment. They also handed over a memorandum to the ADRM in this regard.
Reportedly, 172 temporary cleaning staff of the railways have lost their jobs ever since the lockdown was imposed. Although the situation has normalized now, the workers are still being let go from their jobs.
A rally was staged on Wednesday on behalf of the Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (INTTUC) NJP branch, demanding re-employment.
In this context, Prasenjit Roy said that the Railway department is conspiring to lay off workers. He warned of staging larger demonstrations if their demands are not met soon.
