Railway Property Theft and Sale Exposed: Stolen goods worth lakhs recovered in Siliguri

Siliguri, 06th October: In a joint raid by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF), a prolonged racket involving the theft and sale of railway property has been busted in Siliguri. The illegal activity had been running for a significant time and came to light when authorities received a tip-off about stolen railway goods being sold.


On the morning of October 3, the GRP and RPF launched a coordinated raid on Fulbari Canal Road, where they intercepted a freight truck. Following a search, a significant amount of stolen railway property was found in the vehicle. The truck driver was arrested and presented before the court, where he was remanded for further questioning.

During the investigation, the driver disclosed that a scrap yard located on Coal Depot Road in Siliguri’s Ward No. 07 was being used as a storage facility for the stolen railway goods. Subsequently, a joint team conducted a raid at the scrap yard on Sunday, recovering stolen items valued at lakhs of rupees.


The owner of the scrap yard is currently on the run, and efforts are underway to apprehend him. Meanwhile, the GRP and RPF continue their investigation into this illicit operation.
