Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inspects NJP Railway Station in Siliguri, reviews Amrit Bharat project

Siliguri, 16th January: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited Siliguri on Friday to inspect development work at NJP Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat project. The minister arrived at Bagdogra airport from Delhi and traveled by road to the railway station, where he reviewed ongoing modernization efforts aimed at bringing multiple railway stations in West Bengal to international standards.


Speaking to reporters, Vaishnaw highlighted that the Railway Ministry has allocated nearly Rs 13,000 crore for the overall development of West Bengal. He said these initiatives will accelerate the state’s socio-economic growth.

The minister was welcomed at NJP by local MPs Jayanta Roy of Jalpaiguri, Raju Bista of Darjeeling, MLA Sikha Chatterjee of Dabgram-Fulbari, along with senior railway officials. Vaishnaw also mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate numerous new rail services from Malda soon, calling it a special gift for the state.


Officials said the development work at NJP under the Amrit Bharat project is progressing well, with plans to upgrade the station to international standards.
