Rajganj, 27th May: A joint raid by Dhupguri Police Station and Rajganj Police Station led to the recovery of a large quantity of banned cough syrup from a drug store in Bhutkirhat, under Majhiali Gram Panchayat in Rajganj Block.
According to police sources, the operation was conducted on Tuesday evening following a tip-off received a few days ago. Earlier, twenty boxes of illegal cough syrup were seized near the Dhupguri Bus Terminus, and the vehicle driver was arrested. Based on the interrogation of the accused, police traced the supply to the drug store in Rajganj’s Bhutkirhat.
The owner of the building stated that the shop had been rented out about a year and a half ago to two individuals from Siliguri and Maynaguri, who claimed to operate a wholesale medicine business. The owner added that he was unaware of the illegal activities until the police raid.
A detailed investigation into the case is currently underway.
