Siliguri, 16th March: In a recent development, a case of alleged sale of duplicate cosmetic items under the name of a well-known cosmetic company has come to light in Siliguri. Significantly, upon being instructed by the Bombay High Court, the police and legal cell team raided Hong Kong Market in Siliguri on Saturday. During the raid, a large quantity of counterfeit cosmetic items was recovered. This raid resulted in a stir in the market.
According to sources, a petition was filed earlier in the Bombay High Court by a renowned company manufacturing cosmetic items. In the petition, the company stated that duplicate items are being sold in the name of the company in different parts of the country including Siliguri’s Hong Kong market which hampered the company’s reputation. In addition, the customers are also being cheated.
The Bombay High Court directed the company and the court’s delegation along with the Siliguri Metropolitan Police to launch a campaign in the Hong Kong market. Following the instructions, the company members, representatives of the Bombay High Court, along with Siliguri police station and Panitanki Outpost, launched a campaign in five stores in the Hong Kong market, on this day. During the raid, several duplicate cosmetic items bearing the company’s name were recovered from three stores. Subsequently, the officials sealed one of the stores during the raid.
In this regard, the advocate of Bombay High Court stated that the campaign has commenced on the instructions of the court where a large quantity of fake items have been recovered from three shops. He added that further action would be initiated.
