Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda, and Sister Nivedita statues unveiled in Naxalbari

Naxalbari, 28th February: After a long wait, the statues of Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda, and Sister Nivedita were unveiled in Naxalbari. On this day, Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad unveiled the statues set up at a budget of Rs 9 lakh.


According to reports, the event witnessed the presence of Naxalbari Panchayat Committee member Viraj Sarkar, Maniram GP Pradhan Gautam Ghosh, Upa-Pradhan Ranjan Chikbaraik, Naxalbari Byabasayee Samiti President Nikhil Ghosh, and other social workers.

Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh expressed his honour over unveiling the statues of the noblemen and emphasized that development was not limited to the construction of roads or sewers. Previously, sculptures of Chila Rai and Birsa Munda were unveiled in several locations throughout the department, in addition to Naxalbari. At the same time, he stated that in the future, statues of several noblemen will be sited in various places of departmental councils and that the council is working towards progress with everyone’s cooperation.
