Rabindra Nagar Murder Update: Police identify the deceased

Siliguri, 30th November: The city’s police have succeeded in identifying the anonymous man who was found dead in Siliguri’s Rabindra Nagar area this morning. The deceased has been identified as Sushil Das, a resident of the Niranjan Nagar area near Ghogomali.

It is to recall, the locals sighted Sushil Das’ body lying in front of Siliguri Rabindra Nagar Basic School this morning and reported the matter to Siliguri police. The police reached the spot shortly after and recovered the body. According to police sources, the man had deep bruises on the back of his head and a bunch of hair was found on his right hand. A shopping bag was also found beside the body.

After investigation, it has been learned that Das was a ragman by profession and had left his house on a bicycle this morning to work. He allegedly used to carry scales and weights in a shopping bag to measure rags collected by him.

Although the bag was recovered from the crime scene, the pieces of equipment were missing. Police speculate that he might have been attacked with those very objects considering Das’ deep bruises on the back of his head.

Police have already sent the body to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy. A search is also underway in the area.

On the other hand, the entire family broke down into tears after receiving the news of the incident. The deceased’s family and neighbours demanded an immediate investigation in this regard.
