News Desk, 16th September: A much-anticipated meeting between West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the junior doctors finally took place at the Chief Minister’s residence in Kalighat ahead of the Supreme Court hearing in the R.G. Kar Case. Earlier, the meeting had been delayed for three consecutive days.
The protesting junior doctors were called for a meeting at 5 PM on Monday. Chief Secretary Manoj Pant facilitated the communication by emailing the protesters, to which the doctors responded. The meeting was not videographed or live-streamed. However, the agitating doctors brought two professional stenographers along to ensure accurate records.
The stenographers were allowed to enter the meeting along with the doctors. Chief Secretary Manoj Pant and Home Secretary Nandini Chakraborty were also present during the discussions. The meeting, held behind closed doors, lasted for approximately two hours.
