Siliguri, 18th November: The alleged hired killer, Abhishek Dorji, in connection to the murder case of Pushpa Chhetri was presented in a Jalpaiguri court on Monday amid tight security, after being arrested in Chennai. On Sunday, he was brought to Siliguri and was formally presented in court on Monday.
During the court proceedings, outraged relatives of the deceased Pushpa Chhetri attempted to attack Dorji in the courtroom, expressing their outrage. However, the police quickly intervened and safely escorted Dorji into a police van for transport.
Incidentally, Pushpa Chhetri, a resident of Lower Bhanu Nagar in Siliguri’s Ward No. 43, was brutally murdered as part of a pre-planned contract killing. Investigations revealed that Arun Paudel, a semi-paramilitary force member stationed in Punjab, planned the murder with his wife, Pratika Paudel. The couple reportedly paid a contract killer ₹1 lakh to eliminate Pushpa as part of a plan to end his extramarital affair.
Following the murder, the Bhakti Nagar police arrested Pratika Paudel and Rustam Bhiskarma, the initial hired assassin, and subsequently apprehended Abhishek Dorji, the second contract killer involved in the crime. The police are continuing their investigation, and further legal actions are expected in connection with the case.
