Siliguri, 20th December: Despite months after the heinous R.G. Kar incident, the administration has failed to deliver justice to the victim. On Friday, members of two social organizations, ‘The Night Is Ours’ and ‘Citizens for Justice,’ carried out a symbolic protest outside the CBI office in Siliguri, demanding swift action in the case.
The R.G. Kar incident sparked widespread outrage nationwide, with citizens voicing their anger. Junior doctors participated in hunger strikes, pushing for justice. Despite this, the CBI has yet to file a charge sheet, leading to the granting of bail for the accused, Sandip Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal.
The protestors marched from Baghajatin Park to the CBI office, raising their voices against the investigating agency’s failure. Shahriar Alam, President of the Service Center Unit at North Bengal Medical College, expressed frustration over the delay and the non-submission of the charge sheet. As a result, the accused have been granted bail.
Alam also appealed to the general public to join the movement and continue to demand justice for Abhaya.
