Siliguri, 03rd August: An atmosphere of tension was witnessed in the Shishudangi area near Ward No. 01 over the installation of a mobile tower on the roof of a house.
It has been learned that a few months ago, the locals opposed the installation of a mobile tower in the area. A case was filed and section 144 was imposed. The court directed to stop the tower installation work until the case hearing was completed. Despite this, the mobile tower was installed on the roof of a house in the area.
The agitated locals staged a protest as the court order was disobeyed. Meanwhile, the police reached the spot after receiving the news and stopped the tower work. Locals complain that many elderly people and children reside in the area and the radiation from the tower can cause them numerous problems.
On the other hand, the owner of the house, Pintu Kumar Mishra, said that the locals demanded money to let him install the tower. He further accused the locals of creating a ruckus after their demands were not met.
