Siliguri, 16th June: The Sara Bangla Trinamool Shikkha Bandhu Samiti and North Bengal University Asthayee Sikha Kormi Association protested against the appointment of contractual temporary employees at NBU. Members of both organizations demonstrated today in front of the administrative building calling for the annulment of the unethical hiring of 6 temporary workers.
According to the demonstrators, despite having over 500 contractual temporary employees in the university, fresh recruitment was undertaken without resolving the issues of the previously recruited. A few days prior, Sara Bangla Trinamool Shikkha Bandhu Samiti had submitted a memorandum to Dr. Nupur Das, the acting Registrar of the university, against the said appointments. However, it was alleged that the management did not take any action. The organizations further hinted towards a massive agitation in the future failing to address their grievances.
