Protest rally held in Naxalbari against alleged exploitation of Adivasi community

Naxalbari, 20th February: A protest rally was organised in Naxalbari against the alleged exploitation of the Adivasi community in Assam and other parts of the country. The rally was taken out by the Naxalbari Adivasi Jan Jagaran Samiti on Friday.

The procession began from Rathkhola More and passed through Naxalbari Bazaar before concluding outside the Birsa Munda statue at Adivasi Maidan. The protest focused on alleged harassment of Adivasis during the SIR process and issues related to the cancellation of alleged fake Scheduled Tribe certificates.

Organisation President Ranjan Chik Baraik stated that several Adivasis in Assam are facing difficulties due to alleged discrepancies in official documents, leading to harassment during SIR verification. He expressed concern over the possibility of names being deleted and warned of a larger movement if Adivasi names are removed during the process.
