Siliguri, 04th March: Multiple shops and clubs constructed illegally on the Public Works Department (PWD) land at Siliguri’s S. F. Road were demolished today as per the High Court’s orders.
Reportedly, several notices were issued to vacate the land in the past, however, a few people continued to occupy the said land. Eventually, a case was filed in the High Court and soon the instructions to demolish the illegal constructions were issued.
As per the instructions, a demolition drive was carried out on Thursday in the presence of PWD officials and a large police force. Two traders were detained by the Siliguri police for trying to intervene in the process.
