Siliguri, 13th March: A procession was organized by the Parijat Samaroh Samiti in Siliguri, today, to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Nepali writer Bishnu Kumari Waiba, who wrote under the pen name Parijat.
The procession commenced from Siliguri’s Payel Cinema Hall and concluded at the Parijat Chowk after touring the various routes of the city. People from all classes attended the procession. The members of the Parijat Samaroh Samiti paid tribute to Bishnu Kumari Waiba at the Parijat Chowk by garlanding her statue.
The Secretary of the Samiti, Rajesh Chettri, stated that cultural programmes have also been organized along with the procession to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bishnu Kumari Waiba. The former MP of Darjeeling District Saman Pathak, Municipal Corporation Chairman Dilip Singh, members of the Parijat Samaroh Samiti, teachers of various schools, students and many others were present during the programme.
