Siliguri, 19th September: Jayanta Kar, president of the governing body of Siliguri College met with Siliguri Metropolitan Police Commissioner Tripurari Atharv today, in regards to the audio scandal of a professor in Siliguri.
It is to recall, a professor was caught demanding money from a student to help her obtain passing grades in the examinations through several telephonic conversations. As soon as the audio clip was streamed in Siliguri Times a few days ago, a stir was created across the entire city and beyond.
In regards to the incident, the student lodged a complaint against Amitava Kanjilal the political science professor of Siliguri College. Following this, University of North Bengal Registrar Dilip Kumar Sarkar filed a complaint against Kanjilal at the Matigara police station.
Kanjilal was exempted from performing all duties in Siliguri College. Reportedly, probe into NBU’s any examination work being looked after by Kanjilal will also be launched.
On Saturday, the members of Siliguri College Management Committee submitted a letter to the Police Commissioner demanding justice in the matter. Jayanta Kar stated that the Police Commissioner Tripurari Atharv was approached today to launch a fair investigation of the audio scandal and take stringent action against all the people involved in the case.
