Prime accused arrested in connection with snatching of gold jewelry from elderly woman in Siliguri

Siliguri, 16th November: The NJP police have arrested the prime accused in the brazen snatching of gold jewelry from an elderly woman in Siliguri. The arrested individual has been identified as Biswajit Chowdhury, alias Bitla.


The incident occurred on Thursday evening when Saraswati Mandal, a resident of Thakur Nagar, was leaving her house for some work. Four miscreants on a motorbike approached her in the Jabravita area, grabbed her by the face, and snatched her earrings, necklace, and ring before fleeing the scene.

Following the incident, a complaint was filed with the police, and an investigation was launched. The undercover police from NJP police station successfully apprehended Biswajit Chowdhury alias Bitla from Ambikanagar.


According to police sources, the arrested individual has a history of involvement in various criminal activities, with several cases registered against him at different police stations. The arrested was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Saturday.
