Naxalbari, 30th December: A picture of mismanagement surfaced during the SIR hearing at the Naxalbari BDO office, where an eight-month pregnant woman was allegedly made to stand in a queue to attend the proceedings.
The woman, identified as Srijana Roy, a resident of Mallabari in Naxalbari, had received a notice to appear for the SIR hearing. Despite being in an advanced stage of pregnancy, she was required to stand in line at the BDO office during the hearing process.
Expressing her grievance, Srijana Roy said that instead of being summoned to the office in such a condition, arrangements should have been made for the hearing to be conducted at her residence.
Her husband also questioned the role of the administration and the commission, alleging that there was no seating arrangement at the office and that all formalities had to be completed while standing in line.
He echoed the demand that hearings in such cases should be conducted at home.
