Islampur, 24th January: The family members of a pregnant woman have been accused of vandalizing the Islampur Super Specialty Hospital after the death of the woman due to negligence in treatment.
According to sources, Ruby Begum, a resident of Ikarchala village of the Pokharia Gram Panchayat of Goalpokhar Police station, was admitted to the hospital due to labor pain. Ruby soon gave birth to a son. But, later, her condition deteriorated and she was referred to the North Bengal Medical College-Hospital. However, Ruby died while being shifted to Siliguri.
Ruby’s family members brought the body to the Islampur Super Specialty Hospital and staged a protest. The family members alleged that Ruby Begum died due to negligence in treatment.
Meanwhile, the Police reached the scene upon receiving the news of the incident. The situation was brought under control after Police intervention. In this context, the North Dinajpur District Chief Health Officer, Rabindranath Pradhan, stated that the incident is being investigated.
