Prashant Barman absent, Joint BDO Sourabh Kanti Mandal given charge of Rajganj BDO

Rajganj, 20th January: Rajganj Block Development Officer (BDO) Prashant Barman remains absent, prompting the administration to hand over the charge of BDO to Joint BDO Sourabh Kanti Mandal in order to ensure continuity of administrative work.

According to official sources, Sourabh Kanti Mandal has been assigned both administrative and financial charge of the Rajganj block. He will take over responsibilities in place of Prashant Barman, who is currently absconding in connection with the New Town gold trader murder case.

Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy felicitated the newly appointed officer with a bouquet. The MLA stated that the Rajganj block had been facing administrative stagnation for a long time, and the appointment of a new officer is expected to restore normal functioning. He added that he received information about the development around 9 a.m. and immediately welcomed the new BDO in charge.

The MLA expressed hope that development activities in the block would gain momentum under the new leadership.

It may be noted that Rajganj BDO Prashant Barman has been accused in the Kolkata’s New Town gold trader murder case. As per Supreme Court directions, he is required to surrender by 23rd January. However, he remains absconding so far, leading to a standstill in administrative work. Administrative sources confirmed that the Joint BDO was given charge to keep official functioning on track.
