Siliguri, 10th January: Based on a tip-off, the Pradhan Nagar police recovered a car in Asansol which was stolen from Siliguri. A person, identified as Ashwini Kumar Singh was arrested in the incident.
According to police sources, on January 3, Singh booked Rajendra Kumar Rai’s car in Sikkim to go to Bihar. At that time, he gave his identity as a resident of Burdwan.
After reaching Siliguri junction, Rajendra Kumar got down the car to have tea. When he came back after having tea, he was shocked to find his vehicle missing. Following this, he lodged a complaint at the Pradhan Nagar police station. Based on the complaint, the police started an investigation into the incident.
The accused was arrested in Asansol and brought to Siliguri on transit remand. He will be produced at the Siliguri court tomorrow.
