Siliguri, 01st February: The Pradhan Nagar police of Siliguri Metropolitan arrested three for robbery. The arrested have been identified as Khokan Mahato, Chhotu Paswan and Manoj Manki Munda alias Lal. All the stolen goods were also recovered from the accused except for a scooty.
According to police sources, on January 27, goods worth lakhs were stolen from a locked house in Utpal Nagar, Champasari under Ward No. 46 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The incident came to light the following morning.
Reportedly, Rajesh Prasad was looking after the said house after his elder brother Amresh Prasad went to Bihar for some work on January 13. When Rajesh’s mother noticed the main gate’s lock broken, she informed him regarding it. On entering the house, they found that the entire house was ransacked. Television, laptop, gold jewellery, motorbike, scooty and other valuables were stolen from the house. The police Pradhan Nagar police were immediately informed who then initiated an investigation into the matter.
The Pradhan Nagar police have claimed Khokan Mahato to be the mastermind behind the theft. The three arrested are currently on police remand. The police are investigating the entire case.
