Pradhan Nagar Police arrest seven men for illegal quarrying

Siliguri, 26th November: Pradhan Nagar police arrested seven people on charges of illegally mining sand from the Gulma River. Police also detained four tractors in the incident. The arrested accused have been identified as Vishal Lohar, Sanjeevan Orao, Prakash Shoren, Sameer Munda, Pubit Puri, Amit Kharia, and Sushil Saibo.


It is to be noted that during the North Bengal tour, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a meeting in Uttar Kanya and directed Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma to take strict action against the sand mafias. Following this, the Metropolitan police launched operations to nab them.

Today, the police under the leadership of ACP Manish Yadav raided the Gulma River and seized 4 tractors loaded with sand, stones, and boulders. Seven were arrested as they were unable to show any valid documents. The police have started an investigation into the whole incident.
