Siliguri, 25th April: Based on a tip-off, the Pradhan Nagar police, on Saturday night, launched operations at Siliguri Junction and arrested a man along with 50 kgs of cannabis. The arrested accused has been identified as Jahangir Ali. He is a resident of Dinhata.
A search was conducted and 50 kgs of cannabis were recovered. The Police also seized a scooty that was used for smuggling purposes.
According to police sources, the estimated market value of the recovered cannabis is around Rs 2.5 lakh rupees. The cannabis was brought to Siliguri from Cooch Behar. The arrested accused was produced at Siliguri court today. Police have started an investigation into the whole incident.
