Prabhakar Singh abduction case: Police arrests fourth accused in Siliguri

Siliguri, 02nd July: In another significant breakthrough, the fourth accused in the Prabhakar Singh abduction case has been arrested by the police. The arrested accused has been identified as MD Raj. Notably, this is the fourth arrest by the police in connection to the abduction case.


Earlier, a few days ago, Prabhakar Singh, a businessman in Siliguri’s regulated market was abducted by a group of miscreants at gunpoint, around 06:30 a.m. from Champasari main road area under ward no. 46 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).

Following the abduction, the Special Operations Group (SOG), Detective Department (DD), and Pradhan Nagar Police Station were collectively engaged in the investigation. During the investigations, Prabhakar’s family received a ransom call from the miscreants. Under a plan involving the police, the family reached the spot, with the money, as demanded by the culprits. However, the miscreants fled upon noticing the police presence, while, Prabhakar was safely rescued by the police.


Subsequently, during further investigation, police nabbed the driver, identified as Javed Sheikh, along with the vehicle used in the incident. During interrogation, the names of two individuals, Rakesh Thapa, and Kailash Saha, came to the fore. Later, both were arrested in Jaigaon. Following this, the third accused was also arrested. Now, MD Raj, the fourth accused in connection to the case has also been arrested from Salugara in Siliguri, after which, he was produced before the Siliguri Court today. Currently, police are on a hunt to nab the mastermind on the basis of information disclosed during interrogations of the arrested.
