Siliguri, 05th July: In a major development the police team has successfully tracked down the fifth suspect involved in the abduction case of businessman Prabhakar Singh. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Murad Ansari who has been apprehended from Bolpur in Birbhum district yesterday.
Notably, on June 24, businessman Prabhakar Singh was kidnapped at gunpoint near his house located in Champasari under Ward No. 46 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. Following the abduction, the Special Operations Group (SOG), Detective Department (DD), and Pradhan Nagar Police Station were collectively engaged in the investigation. Meanwhile, Prabhakar’s family received a ransom call from the miscreants. Reportedly, the family members reached the spot with the amount. Subsequently, the police were alerted to apprehend the accused miscreants. However, on sensing the arrival of the police, the kidnappers released Prabhakar and fled the scene without the money.
The police retrieved the vehicle used during the investigation of this case and initially arrested the driver Javed Sheikh, followed by the arrest of Rakesh Thapa and Kailash Saha from Jaigaon and MD Raj from Salugara. Additionally, the fifth accused in this case has also been arrested and produced before the Siliguri court. Meanwhile, the authorities are currently engaged in further investigation of the entire affair.
