Siliguri,18th March: The rivalry between the Trinamool Congress(TMC)-Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) is heating up in the poll-bound state. Sensation prevailed after posters of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were found shredded in the Samar Nagar (Champasari) under Ward No. 46 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, late Wednesday evening.
Condemning the incident, the Mamata-led party accused the BJP of the act and submitted a memorandum in Pradhan Nagar police station against the party on Thursday.
SMC Ward No. 46 TMC president Mohammad Zahoor, Trinamool Mahila Congress leader Mallika Debnath and party’s activists have described the incident as BJP’s ‘petty politics’.
Mohammed Zuhoor said that the poster of the Chief Minister put up in TMC’s booth No. 13 was torn last night. He added that the TMC flag was also installed in the party office of the Communist Party of India (Marxist)(CPIM), aiming to cause a dispute between the two parties. Hence, a memorandum has been submitted against the BJP in the police station to stop such menace.
