Polling officials protested in Rajganj DCRC alleging lack of security arrangements

Rajganj, 07th July: The polling officials for the Panchayat election, on Friday, protested at Rajganj Dispersion Centre and Receipt Centre (DCRC) alleging lack of security arrangements and non-payment of honorarium. Several polling personnel participated in the protest at the said DCRC located at Mahendranath High School in Rajganj.


According to reports, the polling personnel decided to abstain from their duty upon failure to provide adequate security measures. Notably, voting day is on the 8th of July and all equipments have been brought to the DCRC for Rajganj block. In this regard, polling personnel, Dibyendu Saha stated that the High Court had ordered to provide central security forces for the safety of the polling personnel, but the arrangements are questionable. Additionally, the expenses for polling duty was also not provided. He added that despite contacting the designated cash counter and concerned authorities, there was no response.

Furthermore, he stated that upon failure to address their grievances, they would refrain from going to the polling station. Meanwhile, another polling worker named Subhjit Jha stated the arrangements in the DCRC to be appropriate. He added that the only concern is regarding the security measures.
