Rajganj, 06th September: A sense of shock and sorrow has enveloped the area following the discovery of a policeman’s body hanging from a noose in his home. The incident occurred in the Laxmi Jamdargachh area under Ambari Police Outpost of Rajganj. The deceased has been identified as Jai Kumar Roy (50), who was serving as a home guard.
Reports indicate that Roy, who had been employed as a home guard for the past four years and was stationed at the Siliguri Judge Court, was found dead by his wife early Friday morning. Upon waking up, she discovered he was missing and subsequently found his body hanging from a noose in another room.
The Ambari Outpost police arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and transported it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
The deceased’s wife reported that while there had been no apparent family disturbances, Roy had been distressed for some time, though she could not understand why he chose to end his life.
