Kharibari, 18th January: In a bid to combat drug-related issues, Darjeeling District Police Superintendent Praveen Prakash conducted a foot patrol of border areas on Saturday, visiting places such as Goursing Jote, Panitanki Market, Ramdhan, and Haulder Basti. During the visit, he interacted with local residents and urged them to help in making the area drug-free.
Reportedly, areas under Kharibari, Panitanki, and Naxalbari were covered. Praveen Prakash emphasized the importance of public cooperation in identifying and apprehending drug dealers. Addressing the press at Panitanki, he stated, the general public is the eyes and ears of the police. The police require the public’s support to catch drug traffickers all information provided will be kept confidential. He further encouraged the youth to join the fight against drug abuse, stressing that no one involved in the drug trade would be spared.
Additionally, Prakash assured that efforts to rehabilitate drug addicts would be supported by the district administration and the sub-divisional council, who would work together to set up a rehabilitation center for the suffering individuals.
