Police recover stolen gold jewellery and cash from abandoned quarters in Siliguri

Siliguri, 25th December: New Jalpaiguri police have recovered stolen gold jewellery and cash from an abandoned quarters following a theft reported nearly one and a half months ago.


According to police sources, a theft occurred at the residence of Swapan Mandal, a resident of Sipahi Para under Fulbari I Anchal, around six weeks ago. A written complaint was later lodged at the New Jalpaiguri police station.

Based on the complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested a man identified as Biswajit alias Laden from the Jaleswari area. During interrogation, two more accused, Prasenjit Roy and Biswajit Roy, were arrested.


All three accused were produced before the Jalpaiguri court, which remanded them to five days of police custody. During questioning, the accused reportedly revealed that they had hidden the stolen gold jewellery in an abandoned quarters in the More Bazar area.

Acting on the information, police conducted a raid and recovered the stolen items. On Thursday, all three accused were again produced before the Jalpaiguri court.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
