Kharibari, 06th January: Police from Kharibari police station arrested two youths during a late-night raid in Gaur Singh Jote, near Panitanki, as part of their ongoing crackdown on drug smuggling. The arrested individuals, identified as Abhirul Subba and Prajal Rai, are residents of Jorebunglow, Darjeeling.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house in the area on Sunday night. While the primary drug dealers managed to escape, the two youths, who had come to purchase drugs, were caught. The raid led to the recovery of 58 grams of brown sugar, cash worth lakhs of rupees, and a bike from their possession.
The accused were presented before the Siliguri Sub Divisional Court on Monday, while the police continue their search for the absconding drug dealers.
