Siliguri, 30th January: In a recent incident, allegations surfaced in Siliguri against a multi-storey builder for constructing an establishment on the drainage. Following protests from local residents, the police intervened and halted the work.
Reportedly, a few days ago, a 16-foot drain was reduced in size to carry out construction work in the ISKCON Temple Road Pipeline area in Siliguri. This occurred after an earlier attempt by the same builder to install a concrete slab over the drain using a hume pipe. This was stopped by locals, the SJDA, and the municipal corporation, who demolished the structure.
However, construction work reportedly resumed shortly after. In response, locals approached the Ashighar Police Outpost. After inspecting all the documents, the police ordered the construction work to stop for the time being.
The builder stated that the work was being carried out with full approval, but locals have been obstructing the progress.
