Police foiled animal trafficking attempt, rescued 23 buffaloes, two arrested in Phansidewa 

Phansidewa, 16th May: In a successful operation, the police foiled an animal trafficking attempt by intercepting a lorry at Mohammad Bux More in Phansidewa. The incident led to the arrest of two individuals, identified as Sachin Yadav from Bihar and Subal Lal Karmakar from the Gual Pukur area of Uttar Dinajpur.


According to police sources, the lorry was en route to Assam, carrying trafficked animals, when the authorities conducted the operation and apprehended the vehicle. A search revealed the presence of 23 buffaloes, which were promptly rescued and ensured their safety. The two occupants of the lorry were immediately taken into custody, and the vehicle was seized as evidence.

Today, both suspects were presented before the Siliguri Divisional Court, where legal proceedings commenced. Meanwhile, the police are investigating into the matter.
