Police fire tear gas as DYFI’s Uttar Kanya Abhiyan heats up in Siliguri

Siliguri, 28th March: Tensions escalated in Siliguri on Friday during DYFI’s Uttar Kanya Abhiyan, prompting the police to fire several tear gas shells to control the situation. Several DYFI leaders were also detained during the protest.

The rally was organized by DYFI on the occasion of Anti-Unemployment Day, with participation from workers across seven districts of North Bengal. DYFI State Secretary Minakshi Mukherjee, along with hundreds of leaders and workers, joined the demonstration.

As the rally reached Tinbatti More, the police blocked their way using barricades, leading to a confrontation between the protesters and law enforcement. The situation intensified, forcing the police to fire tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.
