Siliguri, 21st February: A police constable was injured in a road accident while on duty on Saturday evening in the Darjeeling More area. The incident occurred when an Army truck allegedly hit Constable Amit Oraon, who was deployed at the spot.
According to eyewitnesses, the impact of the collision was severe, causing the constable to fall onto the road with serious injuries. Fellow police personnel present at the scene immediately rescued him and admitted him to a private hospital in Matigara, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Doctors stated that his condition remains critical and he is under close medical supervision. Upon receiving information about the incident, local police reached the spot and seized the Army vehicle involved in the accident.
An investigation has been initiated to determine whether the accident occurred due to negligence or other reasons.
