Police complaint filed against attempted vandalism of statues of eminent figures in Siliguri

Siliguri, 12th November: A shocking incident has come to light in Siliguri’s Ward No. 47, where miscreants attempted to vandalize statues of 10 prominent personalities recently installed in the area.


Reports suggest that on Monday night, some miscreants threw bricks and stones at the statues in an attempt to damage them. Later in the morning, local residents informed the ward councilor, Amar Ananda Das, regarding the entire incident. Subsequently, he visited the site to assess the situation and filed a written complaint at the Pradhan Nagar Police Station.

Ward Councilor Amar Ananda Das condemned the act, stating that the statues of 10 renowned figures had been recently installed and inaugurated by Mayor Gautam Deb. He expressed concern that the miscreants’ actions were aimed at creating unrest. Das has demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible and called for strict legal action against them.


The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.
