Kharibari, 04th July: In a foiled attempt at animal trafficking, local authorities thwarted a cattle smuggling scheme under the guise of vegetable transport at the Bengal-Bihar border in Kharibari. The incident led to the arrest of Golap Hassan and Hamidar Rehman, both residents of Dakshin Dinajpur district.
According to reports, the officials intercepted a lorry loaded with 29 cows being illegally transported from Bihar to Siliguri on Thursday. Subsequently, Hasan and Rehman were unable to produced valid documentation for the transportation of the cattle, leading to their immediate arrest. Meanwhile, the rescued cows were swiftly relocated to Khowar for safekeeping. The arrested accused were produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court.
