Police bust cattle smuggling in Kharibari, arrest 2 with 45 cows

Kharibari, 19th November: Police have successfully busted a cattle smuggling operation in Kharibari, arresting two individuals and rescuing 45 cows.


Reportedly, the police seized two trucks loaded with cows during a routine check at the Bengal-Bihar border. After searching the vehicles, 45 cows were rescued. The two arrested smugglers, Mohammad Yunis and Mohammad Taimur, were unable to produce valid documents for the cows. Both are residents of Katihar, Bihar.

The arrested individuals were presented in the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Tuesday. The police are continuing their investigation to determine whether the cows were stolen from Bihar and smuggled across the border in the trucks.
