Police arrest man with 20 cattle on charges of smuggling in Bidhan Nagar

Bidhan Nagar, 28th April: In a foiled attempt to smuggle cattle, the officials of the Bidhan Nagar Investigation Center apprehended an individual along with 20 cattle. The arrested driver has been identified as Amanur Haque, a resident of Gauripur in Assam.


According to reports, a lorry was intercepted and seized during a search operation at Muraliganj in Bidhan Nagar of Phansidewa on Saturday night. During the search, about 20 cattle were recovered from the truck. Additionally, the driver failed to produce any valid documentation for possessing the animals. Consequently, the driver was taken into custody.

Police sources revealed that the cattle were intended to be smuggled from Bihar to Assam and then to Bangladesh. On Sunday, the arrested individual was presented before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court for further legal proceedings. Meanwhile, the police are engaged in further investigation of the entire incident.
